Im looking at mounting some driving lights to my 03 Z400, for the purpose of night riding. I have a set of aftermarket lights originally intended for a car, but am concerned that they might draw too much current for the bikes' charging system.

They are average size driving lights. Smaller than say a KC highlighter, but larger than the little $20 jobs walmart sells.
I dont have any documentation on them, so im unsure of the actual current draw. Im looking for a general idea of what kind of lights the bike can handle.

Heres a pic of one of them:

And here is a pic of the whole kit, in a box:

amp rating should be on the headlight and in your manual.....you may want to consider running a better quality stator just to be safe....rickystator makes some decent ones...you could call them and they will know the specs of what the stock ssytem can handle and what you would need for more lighting http://www.rickystator.com/

Those should be 35w jobs so to find out how much current they pull you use ohm's law. Which works as long as you know two values out of four.
P(Power or Watts)
I(Amps)
R(Resistance or Ohms)
V(Voltage)

So yours works like this
p=70 Watts for both of them and V= 12 volts
P divided by V= I
70/12=5.83 amps
I ran two of those at the same time and had no problems with the stock electrics for over a year.

And just to make you feel safe the stock magneto puts out 220 Watts at 5,000 rpm. I wouldn't recommend having them on idling for long periods since the output of your magneto drops alot with less rpms and puts a greater strain on the system. But normal riding its fine.

moose makes a kit for around 30 that works great used them all last winter bright as hell and cheap would recommend them also have a set of fog lights that look real close they are 55w
