Greg wanted to show off his TRX250R at Oregon Dunefest 2010 so he requsted to get the clutch and ignition covers polished. It doesn't make your bike go any faster but there is a show and shine competion for all. His father decided to get his done also. The shiny Honda's run in my family also. Funny how that works. I got my tickets and will be at the Honda Hoedown on Saturday August 7

Puma, can you pm what you charge for doing this. I would love to send you my covers as well. I've been working on polishing my radiator shrouds today and man its a lot of freaking work doing it by hand.

I do this in my spare time. I work 40 hours a week and polish 250r stuff on the weekend.

Hey Dan, thet are made by Cometic. Some of you guys use thier gaskets all the time. They are a thin aluminum (.020") gasket coated on each side with what ever gaskets are made of. Sorry I don't know the correct name of the film used for gasket material.
We pull the covers every other season and repolish them to keep the bike always looking new. They never stick to the cover and fall apart upon removal. They are not real expensive if you are set up as a dealer to buy thier products. I can PM you with a price if you are interested or get them yourself. On my personal bike I have used the same gaskets for 7 years now and they are still in great shape.

Puma, could you polish a quick change cover housing if I were to sent it too ya? I was thinking about doing this, but there is no way I could do as nice of job as you do. Can you clearcoat them to make the polish last longer or no?

I perfer not to polish high end stuff because of the liability involved. When you are using a 15 horsepower buffing lathe and the part gets pulled out of your hands and thrown to the floor it is damaged at 150 MPH. Sometimes closer to 300 MPH. It only takes a split second to destroy a $375 quickchage cover. I thought Blasterman88 offered polishing on those quick change covers, no?

When doing cylinders alot of time is spent making plates that bolt to all machined surfaces to protect them from getting sanded or buffed in the polishing process. The second cylinder to be pulled from my hands was the 408 Puma cylinder.

Luckily the cylinder is real hard aluminum and was only dented slightly. Lost my pulse for a few seconds between the time I picked it up and observed the damage.

When you clearcoat the polish it instanly looses that brilliant shine. Simce the surface of the material is so smooth the paint does not stick as easily as a rough surface. Runs can occur if you are not careful. And if you do not get enough paint on to lay flat it dries rough. I paint and clearcoat but its my hobby and my own parts. If something goes wrong the customer knows who to blame! LOL!

I have a complete rebuilt TRX250R 87 engine cylinder, clutch cover, stator cover and a "gloss black chrome" center case set engine i purchased from BDT Motorsports back in May, it is the most awesome build I have seen to date, like your polish, I can read my newspaper of the mirror finish from 18" away, just amazing work. And le'ts not forget the engine runs like a swiss watch...awesome work, I am big on these BDT Motorsports guys.

Your polish looks awesome as well, love it!
