Still new to the quad but i got a 01 400ex that seems to run a little hot when at idle. it has complete dg exhaust uni closed lid filter 85.5mm wiseco piston 10:1. Im running 158main jet and 42 pilot needle clip in the 3rd and a/f screw 2.5 turns out. Seems to run strong threw out the throttle range with no sputtering or hesitation. Just wondering if this normal for an air cooled engine or do I need to rejet again. Also its been around the 90's with high humidity lately so I realize that has alot to do with it too.

pretty normal. if you let it run longer than 30 seconds just shut it off. it will have a chance to cool that way. the heat outside makes a big difference too. steve

Thanks thats what i figured. I appreciate all they advice and help you given me lately its helped a ton.
If your very worried about heat you can always go on ebay and look for a spal puller fan and mount it to the oil cooler.
It really helped keep my temps down, I do have a worked 416 tho, but it benefits all 400s period due to cooling the oil like a electric fan cools your coolant in a cars radiator.
They run about 35 bucks on ebay.

I already have a fan on it so that helps ease my mind thanks.
No problem.
I recorded a drop in 10F after only having the fan on at idle for about 5 mins, works very well.
