400ex mods?

i just picked up my 400 earlier today,my mods bare listed in my sig,whats some of the best mods i can do,you know my best bang for the buck

ummm well im gonna be going to the mx track, but i also ride trails cause my parents own 25.5 acres of trails

That is going to be a lot of mods if you want to do MX.
You have more motor then you do suspension in stock form, so suspension is the first thing I’d do.

+2 a arms
450 front shocks
+4 axel
Nerf bars if you want to race
Change tires to 18’s rear 20”s up front
Change sprockets to compensate for the new tires

That will be a good start.
How much you want to spend?

depends,im thinking 20" rear tires,and 450r front shocks,have them and stock rear shock rebuilt

If most of the tracks are deep sandy tracks 20”s would be good, but if it’s hard pack you will probably lose some cornering with the taller tires.
And taller would be better for woods I think.
Look for some used parts, you can save a lot that way.

Its so nice riding the trails here after a good day of heavy rain. The trails have been so dry and dusty this summer.

It is nice. Most forums have a bunch of pricks that think they know everything and don't really want to help. Yeah I know it gets old answering the same jetting question time after time but its nice to know we have an online community that is willing to help and laugh together. I look forward to coming to the forum and seeing what everyone is up to.

I would go with the yfz shocks instead of the 450r shocks for mx, and this is the best forum I've come across by far:D

And post some pics of the quad man ya,ill get some pics today hopefully,slightlybent said to buy used and im not sure about buying a used pipe,id like to buy a new one,i understand all slip ons and headers are compatible?id like to get an fmf megabomb header with a big gun sliencer,and im looking to get some powermadd handguards and tires soon,thanks for the advice guys!

I know that the fmf headers are meant to be "universal" but I don't think they fit just anything. If I were to get a new pipe then it would be a Sparks. I know they are pricey, but they sound mean and aren't too loud.

No I would get a new pipe not a used one, when it comes to motor mods, I would stay with new parts. I was referring to suspension parts when I suggested looking for used stuff.
I bought all my suspension parts used and save thousands.
My shocks, a arms and axel are all used and they still work great.
I would only buy a used pipe if it was fairly new and I knew the person I was buying from very well

I would only buy a used pipe if it was fairly new and I knew the person I was buying from very well yea i agree,theres a used sparks on craigslist for 400$ on my local craigslist and im like wow!for a used?!?!
