Searched but could not find this topic discussed....has anyone tried putting a CRF engine into a TRX frame? Does it bolt in?

Why would someone want to cut up a perfectly good quad and make it into a trike.

Bill, I found a really clean 06, but it broke a rod and trashed the cases. I am going to use one of my CRF's for the conversion....Cases are pricey and I was just wondering if I could put my whole CRF engine in there while I look for a set of them. If not,,,I will probably pass on this particular TRX

Because the factories will no longer make trikes so I will :blah:

My question had merit because there is no benefit In using a crf engine. If you like they way the crf runs just swap heads from trx to crf. If the factories stopped making new 450 quads then I could see why a newer crf engine may be desired.

In answer to the original question, no it is not a simple bolt in.

That....is what I needed to know. New crank and cases it a lot of cash for what the guy is wanting for his TRX. Best price on a new 08 around here is 4999 and it is tempting. Those are ER models and I really would like to find a kicker.

just look on ebay and classifieds and grab an 04/05 that someone bought and never rode... would be cheeper than 5k and better

04/05 will not work for what I want to do.

i think the 06+ are pretty much the old crf motor. probley totally different mounts and swingarm, frame mount though probley not worth the trouble.
