air box lid on my 95 300ex

my quad really sounds better and runs cooler if i have the airbox lid off. but i have heard guys on here saying that it could make me blow my engine. is this true? my quad is in sig. not sure bout cam

it will be fine as long as you jet it for the extra air flow....you will be lean if you don't and that will cause engine problems down the road. Go up a size or 2 in your pilot jet....
