I don't know if you have tried. But you adjust the idle by turning the choke knob one way or the other.

Otherwise pull the slide off the cable. Undo the keeper and pull the needle out. The circlip is pushed off the existing groove and moved up for leaner and down for richer.

the pj carb is rather cumbersome to setup. you need to get the pilot jet in the ball park and fine tune the pilot screw in conjunction with adjusting the choke knob(the idle) which richens the system. counter clock wise raises the idle while clockwise lowers it.

changed clip both up and down, and went through all the jets again and still no luck?

have you turned the choke knob as puma and i stated?

adjusting your needle position is not going to make your bike idle if it runs good at 1/4 throttle up through wot I would not adjust anything except pilot jet, air screw, and your idle adjustment. I suggest going to duncanracing.com and under their tech section click jetting. this is very good info. hope this helps.

also if the bike idled before you may want to check other areas such as fuel filter, air filter maybe your pilot is clogged also may have developed an air leak rats nest in exhaust lol

We have all had different carb problems. Thats why we buy new ones. LOL! I even left the block off rag in the rad valve one time. Did not run so good, but it did run!

The idle circuit is real simple. But these old carbs can get plugged with all the chiat that is put in our fue nowadaysl. Jets and clip position may have nothing to do with it. JMO

yea I planned on starting with the pilot even though it idles good it has a little bog when you first hit the throttle. I think the 48 will be better. and I think a bigger main will do good with the cr head gasket. do you guys know what stock jets are?
