450r Hot start

I've been looking all over the forums for the last 3 days for an answer while im waiting on my throttle cable to get here, but have yet to find anyone who has a direct picture/answer. I got this 450r carb and from what I've gathered from the forums the hole circled in red is the hot start, correct? Theres nothing in there, so my question is do I need more parts, or is it good to go and I just need to seal it up with some RTV or something?

that is indeed the hotstart area. your best bet at plugging it is to get the hot start pulg and plunger to put in and then just fill it with rtv or similar. there are a few guys that have plugged it all the way down to where the hole starts but it is a bit more complicated since you have to get rtv all the way into it and through the hole for it to seal correctly. if you dont get it in there, it will leak and cause idle issues and lean conditions. steve

steves right, I plugged mine sucsessfully without the plunger using only RTV, if your worried about it or want peace of mind Id buy the plunger.

Thanks for the quick replies, and yes I've read through that thread so many times I almost have the posts memorized. The pictures and descriptions just didnt make much sense to me. I suppose I'll just call the honda shop and ask about the hotstart stuff. Thanks

it should be like 20 bucks for the plunger and the sleeve. It should come together. steve

should be number 8 you are looking for. bike bandit is 24.38 but a dealer should be less than that.
