Hey all,
Was just getting my bike ready for a ride tommorow when I started her up in the workshop and let it idle for 5 or so mins when i noticed the headers glowing red hot.....!!!
Is this normal when left idling??
its got a 460 kit with hotcam and 450r carb with 182 main and 50 pilot with the mixture screw 2 turns out.
Any help would be really appreciated.
cheers

yea it is too lean... better be safe than sorry
however mine did this all the time and at night it was like i had underglow... it was bad. it was all stock and did it from day one....
Lasted 2 years of almost everyday riding like that before i sold it. still ran great but started burning a bit of oil. just needed rings im sure
From the factory they come lean believe it or not.

I say go to a 52 pilot and you should be good. just my .02 though. steve

Big bore bikes tend to make alot more heat than stockers, therefore yes.... the header will glow red with no air flow
if the header is still glowing when you are riding its your jets

Thanks guys yea I think i might go with the 52 pilot and see how it goes, it started to pop and fart on deceleration as well so i rekn the pilot is the issue.
Gota fix my clutch issue first tho the dirt racer clutch didnt seem to handle the stroker torque.....:(
