Single vs. Double A-arm

I can buy a 2005 DRX50 with a single a-arm for $1k or should I just keep looking for a double a-arm one? My son is 5 and wants to start MX racing this year. Can a single be converted later to a double? Thoughts?

If he is going to race or even play hard I would look for a double.

ditto, look for a dual. and unless the bike has lots of mods, $1k seems high for a 2005. I've seen 07/08 for that range.
