Well I went trail riding for probably half the day and when I got back home and unloaded the quad, I noticed something was wrong.

So I took it down to the shop and checked both back tires and on one of my rims, a nut must have come loose and fell off when we were riding and the stud started eating away at my rim as the tire would turn.

Is there anyway I could save my rim or is it completely shot now?
The rims are nice ITP beadlocks! :(

How do the Hiper Racing Beadlock rings work?

Do you have to have Hiper wheels to get the Hiper beadlocks to fit?!

same thing happened to me, on my ITP t-9's except one fell off and 3 were one turn away from coming off. :s they carved the rim out nicely in each hole, rather then being round, each hole is now a rainbow shape that is a bit over an inch long. this happened because the previous owner had car lug nuts holding them on. all i did was get some 14mm nuts meant for holding on front sway bar links for a Ford Escape.
works fine, have had no other problems with them falling off or anything, not even coming loose.

Cool. Like when mine happened, I only noticed it because that tire started wobbling very badly. Same happen to you?

haha yea sort of. i felt something banging and thought something was wrong, but at the time i had a girl on the back with me so i was just thinking maybe it was from riding double.
then my old man was riding behind me on his 84 250r and started yelling because he could see the tire wobble. :p so the fun afternoon of riding was over in 5 short minutes. ahaha. sh**happens.

lol ya thats always fun. Aren't 14mm nuts smaller than the OEM 11/16 nuts.

And if it was rainbow shaped, wouldn't the tire still wobble?

im not sure what the OEM ones are even, because when i got the quad, all 4 rims had chrome lug nuts off a car.
and yea, you would think it would wobble still, but it doesn't

the stockers are tapered from the factory for the stock rims. for just about any aftermarket rims they need to be flipped and washers need to be used. this is if they only have a hole in the flat rim, if they are tapered like on the stockers then use the lug nuts. most companies like ITP have their own taper of lug nut to use that is a longer nut but you can still use them. my quadroks have tapered holes as do my dads c series. my .190 douglas ones though dont and i have to use washers and flip the nuts. steve

Yeah I should try it because I would really hate to ruin and waste a good set of rims/tires.

Might be a good idea to put them on both sides to make the hole as round as possible.

Put washers on both sides of the rim or both sides of the nut?

Well good news I think. Put the washers on and from as far as I can tell it is working. Won't really know until I hit the trails sometime this week but I hope for the best. Thanks.
