if its smoking at all its the head gasket, pull your plug , it will tell you if your burnin water. a bad water pump seal will let water in the oil. but not make it smoke. dont run it or you'll need alot more than a gasket.

The bike is not mine. I sold it a week ago and haven't seen it since. The guy who bought it says it didn't lose power and wasn't smoking but says it happened at night. The engine sounded funny so he shut it off and checked the oil. It would not start back up and will barely turn over. When you say a bad water pump seal are you talking about the oil seal? (#8 in the diagram) or the side cover gasket?? I am going take a look tomorrow.

yes the seals on the impeller shaft. but remember a head gasket can leak a litt and not lose alot of power. and you more than likly ruined a bearing. all it takes is one solid drop of water hitting a crank journal, rod, or cam to mess it up.
