No Snorkle???

ok i seen in someones mods the other day that they had no snorkle,,, is this something that gives it more power,,,, if so it is worth it and how do i go about getting it off?

If you look at your snorkel right now you will see that all of the air that is being sucked in is coming from right above your engine which makes it hot air. Hot air is not as good as cool air so you just have to take it off and use something to cover the hole that is left in your air box. Personally I use a Nac's snorkel cover but i have heard of people using the lids to spray painy cans. Of coarse you have to run it with the air box lid off now but if that doesnt bother you then I would recomend doing it but don't expect much of a difference in power or anything.

lilpoppy is right. I took my snorkel off and capped the opening with a paint can lid until i get around to buying a cover from nacs. Nacs covers i think are billet aluminum, although the blck spray paint can cover fits nice also.

The "more power" comes from the extra air that comes from not running the air box cover, and if you dont run the cover you dont need the snorkle.

The paint can cap works excelent BTW

I accidently hit a hole on a creek crossing and had water over my lower headlight shroud, and the 400 never coughed, it just sounded like a jet ski with the pipe underwater and the throttle wide open as i tried to get the snorkle up out of harm's way. Airbox drain tube was about 3/4 full, not bad at all!

I was impressed, and i'll keep my snorkle on. (TRUE STORY):)

If this were true then why would people take the snorkel off? Why not get a little more air in the box? It isn't just to lose the extra weight it is to keep cool air being sucked in instead of warm air. If you don't believe me do a search you will see.

what u mean paint can lid can u explane. is it like the lid off a metle pain bucket. u got a pic bt chance?

The lid were talking abount is off a Spray paint can. The plastic lid you pop off.
This lid fits in the hole where the snorkel comes out of at the bottom corner of the air box when you remove the snorkel.

o sweet man. i have been running without a sonrkel and nothing covering the hole:eek: now i can cover it:D
