Been wanting to get a set of hand guards. Lets see what you have on yours and how you like them. I do a lot of woods riding and there is some mud and what not flying around. Like to keep my gloves dry and half way clean. Not to mention flying sticks and rocks don't feel great.

pretty much everyone on this site runs powermadds, they are nice because they have the removable cover and if you need a bigger hand guard you can buy a bigger snap in cover. know i like mine and will be picking some up for my 2nd 400 fairly soon.

The powermadds look to be about the best quality out there. I am thinking about picking up a set very soon.

I have the Powermadd's and just ordered the metal wrap kit for them yesterday. This should give a little extra protection as the guards by themselves are not extremely rigid.

Those look perfect. The only thing that I don't like is that there is coverage for the brake assembly and not the clutch and kill/start switches. You know like there not uniform. Am I anal or what?

In the second pic it looks worse than it really is, due to, that pic was taken before I had done the P/b block-off, and replaced the clutch lever and perch.

Look at the first pic, and you can see how the smaller perch and lever fit better behind the hand guard.
(the first pic is AFTER the P/b block-off & clutch perch was installed)

They DO offer a fair, good amount of protection from flying rocks, branches, etc.,...
They are mounted to both the bars, and the bar ends, (therefore making them very rigid).... and they are still fairly compact.

works for me,... and no busted knuckles from flying rocks, or snagged tree branches.

not bad for $30 bucks, off the clearance table. ;) :p

I have the power maids and I like them a little better because I ride mx but if I was a woods rider I would go with the Acerbis, there much stronger then the power maids.

I have a like new pair of PowerMadd Starr in yellow and black still in the packaging for $17.00 shipped if anyone is interested. I was going to put them on my son's quad but he hasn't rode it in over a year. So these have been sitting in the package since I bought them. PM if interested.

Acerbis Uniko handguards, this is my second set of these and love them, and plus they're alot cheaper than others and come with a mount kit, my last pair went through a beating and are still going, just put them on my other ex, they also hold the cold air back nice for winter riding

Personally, i cant stand the guards that mount into the end of the handlebars, i had the Maiers or however you spell it, on my 300ex, everytime i turned, my hands would push the ends out, and then eventually the metal piece that goes into the bars just snapped because of tightening them. :s i like my tusk handguards, they are built pretty well, i have hit many thick vines and branches with em, they flex a bit and go right back to how they're supposed to be. I've got the RMATV Tusk in red on mine (without the stickers). They have taken several roll overs and are still good. The plastic bends a little where they mount if you take a spill but I just take a heat gun and get the plastic pliable and bend it back right into shape with a pair of pliers. I'm thinking of going with something else though shortly.
