Ok i got a hmf competition slip on kn filter dyno jet kit. I want to have more throttle response. Also i was wandering if i put a 14tooth sproket on the front would it make second gear longer. I wish it was longer because on long hills it feels like its really over revving dont care what it would do to my top end

If you want better throttle response and want to make it a bit snappier then get yourself a +6 sparks key. It advances the timing 6 degrees and makes the throttle response a bit better. Also you can grind down the welds on the inside of the head pipe where it connects to the engine.

Going with an extra tooth will give you a higher top end and make the gears longer. You will lose a bit of your bottom end grunt though.

Don't forget about removing the air box lid or getting an EHS lid. It'll free up quite a bit of air flow and make throttle response better. You will most likely have to rejet.

I also just did the +6 sparks key in mine as well and I really didn't notice the throttle response being any better, but it does pull alot harder.

my buddy gave me his amr rev box because he didnt like it but when i put it on it started to cut out while ideling? any ideas on why it do that?

I have never messed with the electric timing stuff. I would much rather go with the sparks key instead of the rev box for those exact reasons. Mechanical over Electrical in my book.

removing the the choke and going with a 42 pilot made mine snappier, but can't really guarantee that to be the same with yours i guess:ermm:

450r carb!!

also are you backfiring at all? popping on decel?

if you have a bigger sproket on the front now? a smaller 1 will make 2nd shorter.

if you pull your flywheel to install the +6 key, go ahead and get you flywheel lightened, will make it rev much quicker and feel more responsive.

If i get a 450r carb which jets should i run in it??

Really its anyones guess? just try some plug chopping or the go big method in my plug reading thread? really its trial and error, some get it right real quick, others have a lil problem getting it dialed in.

if you're looking to make it snappier i highly recomend the wiseco 440 kit. it made an unbelievable difference on mine

heres my .02. take the choke out, get a 42 pilot. get a sparks key, grind the headers last so you dont have rejet then add more stuff. see where that gets you. I think you will be happy without spending $$ on a bore, piston and such. it will be a different machine. If you like the low end grunt of the 400 dont get the 450 carb, you will lose some unless you gear it down(this defeats the purpose of having the carb) it is mainly a top end and mid range carb since it is big for a stock bore machine. also if you like the low end dont take your cover off. if you like the mid and top end do the lid and the carb and you will be happy. that would be my first few things to do. trust me, im a doctor... lol. steve

I work at an experimental tree farm for the summer I mow alot of grass(80 acres with about 3-4 miles of roads) and maintain the site. I am going for mechanical engineering and have 2 yrs left at michigan tech. I guess that is the main hobby at the moment, it keeps me busy up there. steve

Thats a great profession. Both my parents are civil engineers. My dad went to Mich Tech.

I work with some scary power. Enough power to where if I make a mistake I'm going through a wall at the other end of the building.

hey what did you guys plug your hole with when you removed your choke? my cousin said i should run my gas overflow to it so i'm not wasting gas when i'm doing wheelies. i told him that defies the purpose of the overflow line. whats your opinion on that one?

I just used a 1/4" pvc hose line end cap that was green and a small hose clamp. steve

what kind of research are you guys doing on the trees? I've got a forestry degree and am curious.

Grafting and cloning?

I used to work for a tree farm. We tested the effects of Ozone (O3) on different species.

they did a bunch of different clones then we take 03 and co2 and pump it around them. the rings do the work doing this. We have 12 rings- 3 03 only, 3 c02 only, 3 control rings, and 3 combination 03 and co2. From what we have found, the 03 by itself is harmful, CO2 is pretty good, and both together sort of cancel out. I am not really sure what clones they used but the original trees are gone now and a caucus study is in progress this year. heres the website

http://aspenface.mtu.edu/

I hope this helps you out a bit, I am not really sure about the real specifics of the work that they did with the trees. steve
