stiff throttle

Wierd problem cropped up last time riding.. The throttle became so stiff I couldn't give it more gas when running... But when the engine is off, the throttle is real easy so it is not the cable... I think.. any ideas..

It is an 03 400ex

Is the cable touching the top of the motor,maybe its starting to melt and get sticky.Running or not it shouldn't have any affect on the throttle.Maybe dirty carb.
