engine noise (cluckin under load)

my engine makes loud knocking or cluckin noises under load. motor also sounds like the timing chain is wore out or possible valves need adjusted. help needed with ideas

Does it make the noise from low RPM to high RPM or does it just do it when you are lugging at low RPM?

it will do it at any rpm as long as it's under load. the bike has a higher comp piston 13 to 1, i run 93 octane

You need better than 93 octane or reduce the compression...

i've been running 93 for well over 40 hours, but is that what detonating would sound like

could be a blown head gasket

Thats exactly what my quad did. sounded find if your just reving but under load would make a loud clacking

had same issue and my timing chain was in all kinds of kinks if it has a lot of hours since a freshen up id just go again and get new chain adjust valves and what not
