Ground Welds Mod and Other Stuff

Just got my exhaust back on the quad after doing the welds mod and some front end work. Took it out for a ride and it seems like the throttle response is a bit better but I cant be certain because I also adjusted my clutch so it grabs quicker. Other then not noticing much it did make my jetting perfect because I think I was a little off before.


So when I took the quad for a ride I heard some squealing from the axle, I get it back home and saw that my chain was a bit stiff so pulled it off and cleaned it up and added some chain oil which made it like new again.

Then I put it back on and went for a test run and had the same sound. I did a bit more looking and found it is coming from the axle bearings. There is also quite a bit of slop in the carrier when you move the axle front to back. I also noticed the swing arm bushings are just about shot.

Now here is my question. How hard is it to change the carrier bearings? I have never had the swing arm off or apart so this is new to me. Anyone with any info?

The swingarm and bearing carrier are not hard to take apart. If your new to it, a work manual will help alot. I would change the bearings ASAP. I waited too long and when the bearings finally broke, it ruined the carrier also. Very costly stupidity.

The bearing and seals are easy to do, the hardest part is knocking out the old ones, un less you have a puller. The rear axel should come out once a year for cleaning and greasing, once you’ve had it out it’s no big deal to do it again every year. If you don’t do it annually then it can make it very hard to get out.
As for the swing arm bearing the only time mine was out is when I had my motor done a few years ago, but I don’t think is very hard to do.
