I was going to order some stuff from rockmtn and was tempted to throw these in as well... "tusk super white bulbs" says 35w = 60w ...?? Only ten bucks a piece.. Any one tried these yet?? How are they?

My dad got something like that on his z400, except they are made by PIAA. They seem to work very well, probably not as good as trailtech lights but certainly better than stock

Ive been using some of the Tusk line parts and have been pretty pleased with what I got. I would say they are worth a try.

I have heard those bulbs are pretty good. The only problem is the power to your bulbs can be an issue. The problem is that all the power to the lights is passed through the switch on the handlebar. Those switches are not very efficient and you can lose some power before it gets to the bulb. I did a post on how to correct this problem using relay switches to power the bulbs. Do a search on Different Angle on Brighter Lights. It made a huge difference on my lights with stock bulbs. But of course I can't leave things alone and I installed some HIDs a couple of weeks ago. I must admit that the HIDs are way brighter still. I also must admit that the HID install would be easier too. I found a set of HIDs on ebay for about $35 and quite frankly I should have done that in the first place. You can get H6M bulbs that fit perfect. Down side is you loose the high/low beam function. I still used a relay to get the full power to the system.

I would say just go HID i got a Xentec Slim Kit for 50 bux, with h6m 8000k bulbs, and im am way happy, i go night riding alot, so it was a great investment, i have a how to in my sig and just pm me if you need any help. I have instructions on how to convert a 9006 wiring harness to act as a relay harness for yourr HIDs and use ur factory switch. and as for low beam, i am toying with mounting a HID fog light somewhere down by the shock mounts, or even a holegen bulb, im not positive, but ive done 6 HID installs on 400 ex's and they are all great. and easy

I'm going to have to agree. I've done it both ways and the HIDs are brighter and there is less work. I went with the two relays first because I thought it was important to have the High/Low beam setup with stock bulbs. After thinking about it, I decided I wanted the brightest lights I could get and I always ran them on high beams anyway. Plus that blue color it pretty trick.

yeah, the 8000k for some reason doesnt show much blue, i was disapointed, but the best part is the head light houseing on my 08. my buddies 06 it works great in to, but the 08 is actually more reflective its seems like, but yeah, i may convert to red HIDs lol, it would look sick and evil lol.

I got the 6000k bulbs. They came out mostly white with a nice blue tint. They are in the older round housings too. I also noticed I needed to aim the lights up a bit. I have yet to have them out in the dark but I'm sure they will be much better.

yea, they need to point straight, not down, just fyi. even on cars the should be level with the ground, thats why lexus has those self leveling.
