Except for the whine in some tranny's the 06 tranny is not known to have probs. The shift pin relocator is a good idea if you hammer the shifter. That of course happens more often in MX racing/riding. I've had my 06 since march of 06 with no trouble whatsoever. I do fast trail riding and did some flat track racing.

So for a change, the first year model seems to be the best! :p

thanks alot.. i ride everything, track, trail, rode.. i will look into that relocator.. i try to be a easy on my tranny as i can because i would hate to see the bill of a rebuild.. but you can only be so easy on it when your on a track... i was a breezewood the other day and i came around a real deep birm in 3rd gear pretty good throttle, and it dropped out of 3rd into a "false nuetral".. i was kinda confused because it hasnt done it since.. hopefully it never does..

The 06 tranny is pretty solid. To solve your "false neutral" problem you can put the 08 shift mechanisms in it. It's less than $200 in parts to update it. That'll solve the jumping out of gear issues that the 06/07's have once they get some wear on them.

I put countless hours on my ltr tranny and never had a problem even with a built motor. I ran amsoil 10w40 and lucas oil stabalizer in the motor. Took the tranny whine i had on the track away and made it shift so much smoother.

The LTR trannys are weird in that some people get a good one and some get a bad one. My 08 lasted a season and a half before 3rd gear broke a tooth off, and some people only get 6 months on one and they go.

just purchase an 06 with low hours.Tranny has a slight whine,is the lucas stabilizer safe with the clutches?

I have gotten a good one it seems... I don't race though. No issues with mine so far... I have about 65 - 70 hours on the bike in total.
