the question is, to carbon fiber look or not? dual scoop or single?

I got the black 400EX racing hood. I like it and it bolted right up. You have to do some extra drilling if you go for the 450r one.

yeah i know but once you see what i have in mind you know why i am getting an r hood, any did i ever tell you thats an awesome pic, i am not a dune rider (yet) and i love that pic with the dunes and rocks in the background

As for the colors, just remember that the carbon fiber looking one is more gray than black.

Maybe posting a pic of your quad will help everyone decide which would look best on yours?
I got the same hood as bkelly, kinda wish I would of tried red.

stock is just plain. u need to mod it to be your owne thing.

nothing is wrong with the stock one, i kind of like the stock hood on the 400s....

but....


i HATE the light used on 05-07 400s. just plain hate it, always have, always will. yes i do use a headlight, and the 400 will be getting a headlight, just a different one.

i think i can deal with the looks of the 05 if a make a few changes.

i am an old school - first gen 400ex headlight and plastics lover.
when the 400 was brand new and saw it on the cover on dirt wheels for the first time. i thought holy ****, what the hell is honda doing. that is thing is one ugly duckling!
i was used to the classically good looking 88-89 250r

i loved to hate it, and after a few yrs. it turned into just plain loving the headlights and plastics.

How about an '88 or '89 250R hood w/light.

I've seen it done on a 300EX... might be something that can work on a 400EX too... I don't know....

i have another pesky idea in my head thou....

i saw a 400ex a few years back somewhere that was pretty cool.
a guy got white plastics(stock 400ex) and then had some stickers made for it that where copies of 86 250r stock decals but said 400ex. had the wheels gold anodized and everything. it was pretty neat.

i am sure you could do the 250r idea with a bit of work, but like i said, i got another idea brewin'

yeah i seen that as well, i had forgot about that one.. seams like it was a 450r next to a matching 250r?? or it might have had 400ex next to it?

i know the 400ex had a matching 250r brother...


pretty sure the 450r pic was in dirt wheels
but it seams like the 400ex and 250 twin might have been in dirt wheels or atv action.

...can't really rememeber for sure... anyone else seen these??

i think it would be cool to do a 450r like a 88-89 250r. but with plastics that would be like if honda built the 250r in 2010. or maybe a 400ex-atc three wheeler. or... well i'm just going to quit there....lol..

I remember now...

It was a pair of retro 450R's... K&K did them... One white, one red.

They are on the K&K atv site...
