I need to know the best exhaust for the 300ex? My sons 300ex DG Xcellerator clamp broke off and left a hole in the muffler. It has a jet kit and K&N filter with a modded air box lid with outerwear on the filter and lid. It has 20" rear and 22" front tires. I would like to know what gearing to use to get more top speed at the same time as still beating a 250x /300ex off the line? He also wants to be able to pop wheelies easy. I bought a 14-39 will this set up work? Or should change to 14-36?I know that I should change both sprockets and the chain all at the same time. So I bought him a 86 link D.I.D. X-Ring. I do not want to have to keep changing sprockets to get it right so thank you for any help.

Dewie, I had my 300ex for 8 years and loved it. I had a dunlap pipe and after the DW shootout I sold it for a FMF. It made 1.5hp more than the others. It did run better with better sound. I ran 130 main with hole in airbox lid. On the gearing, A 1 tooth bigger sprocket hurt mine in a drag race and I weigh 130.

LRD all the way! 13-36 gearing, a little more top end speed plus you still got the torque to pull good wheelies.

We have a FMF Megamax 2, and have been very happy with it!
