Is this a good comba what improvements will it make over using the 14 counter than the 13? more top end? will it help using 20" rears?

I am running a 14/38 on my 300 ex with 20 inch tires. I haven''t had a chance to ride it yet since the weather has not been to good.

14 will give you more top end, the 13 will give you quicker acceleration.

I run 14/39 with 21" tires. I think it works well.

You won't when a 300ex out runs you. Been there!!! 15/38 NOW, and no more embarassment.:o :D

Yea, I bet you don't.

14/36 on a 300 give good top end to stay with bigger machines at high speed, but acceleration is lacking, right Crazy Honda?

I don't think you can fit a 15T on a 3ooex. Try a smaller rear sprocket to gain top speed.

This combo will give you nearly the same ratios as the stock but is geared just a hair lower. example per gearing calc.:

13/38 14/38
22 in tires 20 inch tires

1) 22.41 21.96
2) 33.73 33.05
3) 44.35 43.45
4) 55.3 54.18
5) 65.37 64.04

as you can see not much difference.

i run with raptors and 400exs all day, around here there are about 50 miles straight or railroad tracks without the rails and it is like whoops , and the rest is trails, ive been riding these trail and the tracks all my life, infact me and 2 of my friends started on xr 50's when we were 6 then we all got rm 80's for christmas when we were 11 after that they went with a cr 125 and a yz 125 and they have been racing then and i got my 300ex and have to try to hang with them

so considering i ride with two very talentented mx'ers on trails i have been riding everyday for 10 years, what i was saying is that i wont just hang with them, most likely ill make them look like total idiots on my turf, and plus, ya think i would run a 14/36 combo with a stock motor, that would be stupid:devil

I really dont care if a 300 outruns me \, i dont drag race no place arround here thats long and stiaght enough. The 14t front works great for in the woods and on the track it seems just fine.
