04 450r, need advice..

My friend just bought a 2004 trx 450r, its set up for mx, the guy said the motor is "locked up." He hasn't torn into it yet, I myself have a 450, just not a Honda. What should he expect? Also, where are they stress cracks that occur on the Honda frames? Anything else to look for?

The biggest stress cracks will be around the footpegs and upper tubes behind the gas tank. Motor being locked up means likely will be crank bearings, but as long as the rod isn't sticking though the motor, you will be good. New crank, new piston and rings, possibly cylinder, and it will be ready to go. Just be sure to flush the motor out real good and don't forget the oil cooler.
