Hey everyone,

I have two products that I bought over the winter for when I had a chance to really clean the LTR up. I bought some Mother's Back-to-black polish, as well as some Maxima SC1 spray. I've read good things about both, but wanted to try them to see if one was better than the other.

Here are the two products (Anyone notice one of my dad's 2002s in the background? haha)
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1300.jpg

And some "before" shots of the plastic (after being washed and dried) (the front bumper was sitting on the porch, the paint was just finishing drying off):

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1295.jpg

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1298.jpg

As you can see, the "shine" of the plastics had really worn off, and the plastics just looked like crap to me. Many pieces of mud that were stuck on for all winter, as well as a bunch of other crap really made the plastics look awful, and this was the first time I'd applied anything to them other than just soap/water since I got the LTR back in October of 2008.

I applied the Mother's stuff to the left side (From the rider's perspective, so looking forward) of the quad, here is the result:

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1301.jpg
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1302.jpg
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1303.jpg
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1304.jpg
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1306.jpg

As you can see, it really brought back the shine.

Now I applied the Maxima SC1 stuff to the right side (again this is from the rider's perspective):

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1308.jpg
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1309.jpg
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1310.jpg
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1311.jpg
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1312.jpg
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1313.jpg
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1314.jpg
http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o116/kucan14/ATVs/IMG_1315.jpg

As you can see... the products really do exactly the same thing. For the Mother's stuff, you put it on a rag and rub it in. With the Maxima SC1, you spray it on your fenders and work it in. No difference in terms of difficulty!

I say just buy whichever one is cheaper at your local store... they both really bring back the shine in your plastics!

Now for one final shot with the bumper.

Hope this helps

Thanks, and NP!

The SC1 does smell really really good! Even the day after these pictures were taken/the stuff was applied, I walked into where it was parked and I was like mmmmm! :D

I'll have to see which one holds up better in a few weeks.

I also sprayed WD40 on the underside of my fenders... I've read it's supposed to stop mud buildup? I had some lying around so I figured I'd give it a shot.

mop n glow makes it SHINE. buy wd40 in the big gallon jug and put it in a spray bottle, super cheap and works well.

I use Lemon Pledge. It smells good and makes a nice shine.

Those products you tested look great too, so I would use whatever is less expensive.

I have an 08 LE too, I use "trim shine" to make the plastic fade go away, it does a real nice job. They sell it at canadian tire.

I just get the gallon jug and take a rag and put it over the hole and dump it over to get some on it and rub it in... works just fine
