14/39 should have good low end?

you can try 13/39 or 12/39, what size are your tires?

sounds more like a throttle response issue. a hi-flo air filter and exhaust will help with that.

the bad thing about putting a small sproket on the front is it wheres your chain out verry fast. do yall agree?

a good pipe like hmf and a stage one hot cam will give you the bottom end you need with a 14/39 what ever you stay 14 on the front and go 39 or bigger on the back.

i agree. its also more likely to come off with a smaller front sprocket.

Drop a tooth infront. You'll be much happier. If you do any trail riding or tight track racing, hill climbing this will help alot.I've had the same chain for 3 yrs on mine.Never had an issue.

how much did you pay for your chain? and how much do you ride? that is what counts as far as having a chain for 3 years.

Chain was about $60,primary drive chain,8510 tensile strength.Sprockets are also primary drive.Just now replacing the rear sprocket from the teeth folding over.Ride every other weekend.Ride dunes, trails and the occasional track.

i was thinking. maybe it is your clutch. i havent had my 400ex in quite a whike but i remember it had get up and go even when it was stock. you may want to take a closer look at the earlier suggestion.

i know wheelieing alot wears out clutches and rear brake pads...
