I have broke one did chain and cracked my case fine thought hum it could happen. Rebuilt stroked and got a did x ring chain one of the strongest chains they offer and 3 weeknds of riding and no ajustment left Im not one to buy into hype but I am going to try them out. I lubed it everyday and AJUSTED it everyday. I will keep everyone posted, their customer service so far is really good but were closed the day i got paid. Well see if they hold up to a 493.

I have always ran DID chains with great luck. Was your chain pre cut? Were you running stock gearing? Was the swingarm stock length?

You could have just cut the chain at the wrong length and that it why you ran out of adjustment. All you had to do was take another link out. I'm sure the chain was still fine after 3 weekends of riding. No need to throw it out. I know on a few of my bikes ive had to run it for awhile untill it stretched enough where I needed to take a link out.

D.I.D. makes a quality product. Never had a issue. Sidewinder is way over priced. :blah:

One year warranty on their chains. Lifetime on the Ti II sprockets.

they will use every excuse to not honor the warranty. I had 2 sets, now only one. It was on a trx250r, 14/38 gearing their chain and front/rear sprocket. It lasted ~1 year before the front starting hooking, chain got alot of play and rear was knife edged. I changed it to a primary drive set and DID chain, same set 2 years later. I tried the "lifetime" warranty, I didn't use their chain lube and it was non-stock gearing. That is excuse they used to not honor it. They will take your money and are great for selling their over-priced garbage, however awefull at after sales care.

i have used sidewinder in the past on one of my built 250r's. a bunch of friends all use them. have had very good luck with no issues. they are about five minutes from me so i have and will use them on my stuff. my next chain and spoket sets will be from them. we have neverhad any warrenty issues either.

AS far as swing arm its an 06 and i am fed up with did I babied that chain and i didnt last no time stock gearing I am just going to try them and as far as the waranty i talked with them about that and if they lied to me you guys will be the first to know. And I also have my own test of tensil strength im going to try to put on utube I think you guys will enjoy working on my jig now I work for a wrecker service so you can see maby how this will work out if it is money wasted it will be my pleasure to share my experiences with you guys but if everything works out i will save money in the long run they did tell me that they changed the way the waranty works it is now a no question waranty well see. I thank you guys for the support and your advice has helped me built the great quad I Have today. I have gotten so many mixed responces on this system as you can tell just by this thread so i will find out for myself. Again thanks for the support.

Fast470r
06-22-2010, 02:00 PM
Started with the Aarms I was still working on the swingarm at the time. Pappy, it looked so good I didnt want to remove it from the box.

you didnt keep it polished? or did you just clear coat it? I still have several more hours left to get mine ready. when its done I was just going to wax and keep that type of finish, and I was wondering if it will hold up?you didnt answer if that's the girlfriend that cheated, so Ill take that as a yes, and leave that alone.lol

The motor was complete but I wasnt quite ready. I had hoped the $1200 Falicon crank was going to be worth it I had also talked to Toby at MXP about a 43mm fcr carb I was going to get one from Chad but couldnt pass up the $400 difference sorry Chad dont worry you will do the motor next time.

06-23-2010, 09:23 AM
looking great I got to go through mine soon, is the swinger clear still its hard to see in these pics? im wondering how it will hold up

Fast470r
06-23-2010, 09:24 AM
And Now the motor, I was very careful not to damage the powdercoat. I didnt realize how tough that stuf was. I will try to find the port and polish pics sorry I have lost alot of the old pics.

Fast470r
06-23-2010, 09:28 AM
I looked crappy the guy who did it didnt know about gas out and it looked dengy but i will fix that when it needs bearings.

Fast470r
06-23-2010, 09:31 AM
Heres the carb I got from Tobby I was able to use the stock hot start, maby because it came off a 08 trx not a crf.

Fast470r
06-23-2010, 09:33 AM
The other side.

Fast470r
06-23-2010, 09:37 AM
And my favorite, looks mean I did some work on the intake boot on the motor I took a file and a hone to smooth the transition a little bit maby it helped maby not but didnt see a reason for the lip to be there.

Yeah i got a cool boss she lets me work on it on the clock. But it is hard to stop working on it when a job comes in.

Fast470r
06-23-2010, 09:44 AM
The noss adapter did a good job matching up to the carb and airbox. But I ran into a small problem with the gastank I couldnt get it to fit because of the carb, I bought a IMS tank but still had to chop the carb.

Fast470r
06-23-2010, 09:48 AM
Heres the part I had to cut. After I choped it i took a small thin piece of metal and bent it over the areas and used small rivets and silicone to seal and hold in place. I wont post a pic looks like crap but I dose a good job keeping the carb from rubing a hole in the gastank.

I got the FMF exaust back on. Most people here will tell you their junk but I was able to tell a big difference to each their own. But one improvement I will make will be to have the header ceramic coated. The place I took my motor to dose exaust to. They do 2stroke and 4strokes they did a good job but I had to do the research on the crank becaust hotrods had problems with the 04-04 stroker cranks but thanks to Chad I made my choice on the Falicon, If they wouldnt have already had the motor id sent it to him.

Not everything was going togather the way I had hoped but every problem I encountered I got through, a lot of credit goes to the helpful people on this sight.

Good friends help you put togather your quad, great friends pay off your layaway without you knowing. Like my Proarmor nerfs.

06-23-2010, 10:22 AM
And finally I was down to the chain and sprockets I went with DID xring and sunstar stock gearing, but if youve been through the thread you know that by now. Look closely and notice the moose case saver because thats the reason i went through this in the first place the stock chain broke and took out the case so if you dont have one take my word for it please get a polly case saver.

I lost the pics of my RPM dominator 2 axle but i went with a xc type ajustable 2-to1+. But here are the Burgard 1+1 standard travle aarms I custom ordered them with 16mm balljoints. He gets a lot of heat on the sight to but I had no problems.

Fast470r
06-23-2010, 10:34 AM
I got the aarms on but not ajusted yet I got a new hood to I just couldnt see at night with the stock headlights I know I looks kinda Yamaha but their wasnt much I could do I fabed the light mounts too.

it's probably just me but i can't see where you had to cut the carb could you point it out for me?

Fast470r
06-23-2010, 11:27 AM
about 1 inch of the throtle housing

mx Eli
06-23-2010, 11:30 AM
ok thanks man

Fast470r
06-23-2010, 11:34 AM
the 06 and up tank fit over the throtle housing it was holding the tank up i was afraid it would rub a hole in the bottom

Fast470r
06-23-2010, 07:28 PM
I cut the throtle housing about 1 inch shorter so the gastank would fit. My chain made it in. I posted the build to show all the work and pride i have invested, I hope I will get the jig done so i can stress whats left of the chain i still have whats left of the DID.

Fast470r
06-24-2010, 12:06 PM
I finally got some of the lost pics of the frame before the powder coat.

Fast470r
06-24-2010, 12:09 PM
I made these myself with some flat stock 1/8 inch thick and from some left over tubes from aarms off a Blaster

Fast470r
06-24-2010, 12:11 PM
I know the pics are small but I dont have a file converter and I am using the computer at the libray.

Fast470r
06-24-2010, 12:17 PM
I also put pieces over the back section but I dont have the pics of that anymore but I bought 1.25 tubeing and cut it in half clamped it over the section and welded, the pieces I cut are about 1 inch longer than the ones posted on the XC 450r project.

Ok so I got the chain on last night, I checked the pins on the DID the pins had a lot of slop i them I rode the quad about 25 miles I have lots of county roads and creeks. the chain hasnt streched yet. I am working on the jig to strecth the chains. what Im testing is what is left of the chain after cut. The pins are the same size tho I thought the Sidewinder had bigger pins but thats not the case at all. I got a ti 2 Sidewinder because it is a non oring chain just like the DID. The sad thing is fedex messed my order up to everything was wet and it was 3days late I guess they tried to dry the box out. Im ticked because my Sidewinder stickers are ruined.
