View Full Version : Mounting a Sparks TT

Could anyone post a picture of how their Sparks pipe (TT) mounts to the frame? More specifically, the lower mount on the expansion chamber. I have all 3 factory rubber mounts, and none of them seem to be the correct size or thickness; just wondering if I'm going to have to bend one out of a piece of steel like I did for my FMF fatty.

Thanks!

I dont have a picture on hand, but I had to fab a bracket out of stainless for that mount on my Sparks TT.

The Sparks TT pipe was probably the best fitting pipe I have put on my 89 frame. (a work was required for the Walsh frame)

The lower mount I used an aftermarket exhaust hanger that was supposed be for my Banshee. I bolted the hanger to one of the motor mount bolts and then to the pipe. If you need, I can search for a pic of the hanger.

I have about a 1/2 dozen different exhaust hangers in my garage. Every pipe I have uses a different one, in a different place.

This pipe fits perfectly on my 89 as well, and I am using the stock mount. I'll check tonight which side of the pipe it is bolted to as well as the direction and which motor mount hole I used.

The rubber part of the stock mount is bolted to my Sparks TT, and the metal flange is facing the frame. It might be different with an 86 frame- not sure what you have.

I have a 1989 frame. It just seems like there's a lot of gap between the pipe mount and the frame; enough of a gap that a factory rubber mount won't take up the space.

Here is a link to the hanger that I am using. They have come in handy on more than one pipe because of the 360 rotation.

Cool; thanks, I may have to look at those. I could bend up a bracket that I'm sure would work fine and look ok too, but I like the idea of having the rubber bushing in there to absorb vibes.

Hell, I didn't even know that one existed. Are the tabs steel?

I think they are a hard composite material. These hangers are great and have lots of movement. Plus they ate 1/3 of the price of the origial hangers.

The only trouble is that any degree of rotation between the tabs puts pressure on the rubber mount. Which might cause the rubber to let go.

That is why I like the Banshee 360 degree hangers. You can change the angle between the two tabs to anything you need. Would I have paid $60 to have them, nope. I brought them for my Banshee and never put them on.

I think I have about 5 different style of hangers that I use on verious pipes/silencers. And I still needed to use a "homemade" steel hanger for some of them.
