I know most people that ride quads dont race and are usually just idiots and give us quad riders a bad name but after riding my buddies 09kx250f and 08rmz450 i was just blown away with what a stock bike feels like. The power of the 250f was more like a 450 quad and the rmz was just fast as tits. The suspension also blew me away how hard you could push it.

So im just wondering will quads be race ready like that one day? I havent ridden the yfz450r but i hear the motor is lacking stock.

they tame the motors down quite a bit from the dirtbikes to the quads. i havent figured it out yet but maybe the weight to power ratio has a big part and puttin a bike motor on a quad used to be the only 450s we had which are hybrids. that point in time those bikes would flat out RUN. there has to be an explaination

could it have something to do with insurance?? because a motocross bike is not insurable so they can make it fast as possible cuz its meant for racing only.. thing i cant believe tho is my crf250 will run with my 450 quad... for the first few gears but stock vs stock the crf is 35 hp, and yfz is 38. would a 450 mx motor bolt rite into a quad???? they r roughly 48-50 hp bone stock (pipe on a mx bike is like an aftermarket tho, very non restrictive so thats a few hp)

It's call WEIGHT to power ratio. Also, your 450 motor is spinning two tires as opposed to a 250f spinning one. You guys are basically comparing apples to oranges. You put that 250f motor in your YFZ and you'll be totally disappointed.

Exactly.

Plus dirtbikes have much more suspension travel with their long forks and the rear suspension.

As for race ready, the Cannondales/ATK were pretty much as race ready as they come. Unfortunately they came way too far ahead of their time.

From what I'm gathering a 250f is only around 33-34hp. We all know they have much better exhaust systems stock than that POS silencer on the quads. You put a comparable exhaust on a stock quad and you're looking at 41-42hp compared to that of the 250f. With portwork, cams, and performance exhaust your 250f dirtbikes are around 40hp (give or take depending on which bike). Those same mods for the 450 quad motors will get you over 50 (give or take depending on which bike). No way a 250f dirtbike motor is putting out the same hp as the 450 quad motors mod for mod.
