View Full Version : Silly spark plug question- socket size

I need to change the plug on my 07 400ex and no matter what I try, I cannot get a socket in there. I bought the quad used and no tool kit came with it.

Am I missing something, or do I have to use the stock tool to get it out??

the stock tool is the easiest but you may have to grind the socket edges on the outside a bit to get it to fit in the hole. 18mm is the size you need.

GEARWRENCH brand from Advanced Auto parts, 18mm deep well 3/8 socket with a small extension works great also, fits alot better than the factory honda tool, and for around 4 bucks you cant beat it( no grinding required)

i have an 02 dont know if there the same but i use a 18mm socket on mine. and it work fine for me.

I also use an ALLEN brand 18mm deep well 3/8 socket that fits perfect with no grinding. It can be found at Ace/True Value hardware, Menards, or Sears. Here's the logo to look for:
