View Full Version : 400EX low speed grunt from a 450R

My buddy has one fully built... I mean done right inside GNCC style...

It has strength down low and will thump along through slow sections like a 400EX... don't have to rev to keep from stalling... etc...

Yet it still rips like a 450 should and runs on pump gas.

Anyone have any idea what the engine builder might have done to it to get it that way?

HC Stage I is supposed to be tractor like. Weighted flywheel will help with stalling, if anyone still makes ones.

As far as compression, didn't notice a major low end bump when I went 13:1, so 12.5:1 would still be 94 octane friendly.

Yeah... there is only so much you can do in there...

I myself thought maybe....

Flywheel weight
Cams
Stroked?
Bored?

Big bore would definitely give it a hefty low end.
