I'm running a 350pv with an LRD big bore pipe and passed the 96db test at the Oregon coast.

do you know if that silencer will fit on a curtis 330 big bore pipe and if this will hurt performance or change the power band

i think silencers for a particular bike will fit most pipes i have an fmf silencer on my lrd pipe and an old pt silencer and they both fit perfectly. most turn down silencers will pass the 98db test because they redirect the sound down. it makes a pretty big diffrence. also packing makes a diffrence too a poorly packed silencer will reduce back pressure and be loud.

I completely agree with the turn down affect...My Banshee has turn downs and passes as well.

My engine and pipe came from LRD when Arlen was the man, I would contact Arlen at LED for that information. In most cases (not all) it's the pipe and shape of chamber that gives takes and decides where the power will be, the silencer can affect it some but nothing compared to the chamber.

high compression head with race fuel also are more challenging to meet the 94 Db. I've had good results with the FMF, it does rob some low and mid power, but the topend power has no losses at all.

What FMF pipe are you refering to? FMF makes pipes that cover every range of power requirements....I'm an old (true) FMF Gold Series fan.

My 350pv runs 230psi with full race and passed....But i believe having the turn down on my silencer helps that.

I've got a FMF Q silencer, I believe its one of the quietest aftermarket silencers on the market.

I think my post may have been a little misleading. I meant to say the FMF ISDE Silencer didn't lose any power on top. I think there pipes can give up some power most of the time.

Call Cascade Innovations in Oregon. They make a specific big bore silencer that passes Oregon dunes sound laws. Its not in their website so you will need to ask about it . The downside is that it is pricey.

They are only $250. Come fully polished. I have 4 of them. No restictions like FMF Q's and don't fall apart like FMF's

The Oregon dunes have a 93 Db limit. But with the Cascade silencer we don't even get tested.

Not all of the Oregon Dunes are 93db......There is a 97db in one of the riding areas as well.

Kinda on the topic, are esr trx6 exhaust systems loud? I have a 250 .40 over with port, haven't checked compression yet.. Is it too loud to race cross country with?

I have tried many different silencers and the Cascade is by far the NICEST and quietest ones out there. I have them on both my R's.

LOL, darn that is fuuny! We get people from Washington, California, Nevada, and Utah here all the time at Whinchester Bay. I see a few regulars once in awhile and some guys from the website. But I do not know captain morgan personally. I use the cascade CXFX on all the big bores. Here's the same parking lot with the new 431 Puma with a PT type 6 woods pipe.
