Well my father and I do ATV repair on the side, and there's this one guy that we do work for all the time.
Well, we got it back in for repair.. again.

It's a 2005 Suzuki KingQuad 700

The guy was riding it through a 20 mile trail, and all of a sudden the bike just stopped running and wouldn't start back up again. (So we had to go and pick him + the bike up, he got lucky on the bike broke down by the road)

Here's the issue though, we brought it back, and checked over all the basics. It's getting fuel, the throttle body is clean, it's getting good spark, and everything's working as it should. All the essentials. The timing didn't jump either, we took the valve cover off and checked.

Anyone know what this can possibly be? Do you think it could possibly be a cracked ring? I find it hard to believe being it only has 2700 miles on it..

Any help would be appreciated:)

do a compression test if you suspect valve or piston problems.

That's the next step. I just looked up and heard of these 700's having valves tighten up causing it to loose compression and have the same symptoms.

make a thread in the bike specific section.

I would but there's NO ONE in that section.. I figured I would get a lot more help in the open section.

Hows the air filter? Do an compression test.

Filter's clean. We basically went over everything. The engine almost seems when you pull start it, to have a little less compression.
We cleaned the idle control valve, checked fuel pressure, and you can see the gas being sprayed into the throttle body, and we went over the electrical to make sure it's getting good spark. We changed the plug and did an oil change on it recently.

Leads us to believe either one of two things.. 1) Valve tightened up causing it to loose compression or 2) Cracked ring.

We're going to do a compression test, adjust the valves, do another compression test, and then see if she'll run.

maybe its a sensor of some kind. also is the battery reading good?

Battery is reading fine, even had the charger on it for some extra boost.

It's not a sensor because the Fault Indicator light would come up.. And we looked over most of that.

The FI light is on, and we checked the code and it came up C40, which is the Idle Speed Valve. It's been on for a while though, and only controls the idle. (He's having us replace it too)

Good ol' carbs. To be honest though, the fuel injection is actually pretty simple to work on.. almost more simple then a carb. Just the throttle body with a fuel rail, and idle speed control valve.

The electronics are a different story, but the TB itself is cake.
