Found someone on Craigslist selling a 05 450r for 800 ibid, he said it needed clutch work. What's the most it can cost to fix a clutch on one of these? I think there is more to it than just a clutch, because the price is to low. Don't want to have to drive like 2hrs for a waste of time. Any info on that year or on what to look for would be appreciated. Thanks

I'd say for less than $400, you could get a whole new clutch assembly. Sounds like a good investment, if that's the only thing wrong with it.

You could part it and get your $800 back if all else fails.

Thanks for the replies. I talked to the guy again, he said you can ride it, but its kind of hard to switch gears, you kind of have to force it. He said he hasn't took it apart so he is not sure if there are any other problems. Any more opinions?

have him send you some close up pics of suspension frame and just get a feel for how beat it is. you cant expect much for 800 but it should be worth it

$800 is cheap... Go get it. Bring cash and try to work him down more when you get there.

Even with a blown motor you could buy a built motor for $1200 bucks and have a $2K quad. Then part out what is good on the other motor.

You might need shift forks, maybe a shift drum, dogs could be worn... Hard telling not being there.

Pull the filter when you get there and see if there are any metal shavings on the inside. Cut it open to look.
