I can't figure out how to post a picture off my phone and my good computers down so I geuss it will be a little while. Its just smooth all the way around on the left side with no notches to stick the screwdriver in for rotating it backwards. Its pretty beat up and needs to be swapped out but I'm just tryin to get by a little longer.

its impossible to have a 85 atc carrier in your 88, unless you have a 85 atc swimgarm. 86 atc carriers are the same as 86-89 trx. 85 carriers are very unique, one year only. They have slots and you use a spanner to adjust the chain. The outside diameter of it is too small to fit in a 86-89 atc or trx swingarm. Also 85 atc swingarms used a one year only stay/linkage for the caliper.

look thru the sprocket at the carrier and see if there is a hole drilled there .if there is use a screw driver of the same size to stick into the hole thru the sprocket and and turn the back wheels to turn the carrier. it must be aftermarket
