We all spend lots of $$ making our kids quads as fast as we can make them. The area that I have seen over our 5 years of racing that many parents cheap out on is safety. I know preaching to the choir to most of you here but if you see this and haven't spent the $ on the best Safety Equipment you can buy please rethink it!

This is the 2nd time in 3 years that the LEATT Brace/Rockgardn combination has doen its job for Drew. He was leading the race and got his front tire stuck in a rut and it sucked the bike to the left. He got back on after being dead last and passed his way back to 4th.

As Happy as we are about him getting 2nd place in both the 90 Auto and 90 Modified classes we are very happy he walked away from that with just a bruise on his leg. I am convinced that without the Safety Gear that he has he would have been taken off in the ambulance.

Thanks to Garrett Hamiltion, the ATVriders photographer for NEATV, for getting these pics!

Holeshot!

He came off the track and had to line right back up for the 90 Modified and got the holeshot and 2nd place.

I think moreso than the Leatt thank GOD for protecting his spine as well. Especially with him being entangled in the quad the way he was. Great to hear he got up and rode away.

Glad he was ok. Those pics also make you think about wider heal guards. Something like the newer one piece styles used for full size quads looks needed for the minis.

Yeah glad the littleman is good after that crash, I hate watching a quad come back over and land ON the rider. By the way I think by looking at the first picture I can pick out one of the bikes Drew WASNT able to catch up to and pass, It is the little green kawi KFX sleeper in the back of the picture wasn't it????:D :D
Man they are incredibly fast;)

That one and the yamaha raptor 80.......lol

thankfully he was okay, a few bruises on his leg but not enough to keep him from tearing up the yard on his raptor 250 Monday after school.

Glad he came out on the posative side, too many not wearing underarmor because "it's too hot or too restrictive" blah, blah, blah, blah. Rule is, WEAR IT OR DON'T RIDE, now everyone in our house wears it like a second skin in 90+deg weather too.

Definately one the best combinations, add some Jr Cya armor under shorts & knee braces, & heel guards

I know 1st hand how it feels without armor and a 450 toppling over you after pinning 4th about ready for 5th coming into a turn on a gravel road you didn't know was there and tumbling thru a rock bed with rocks close in height to my 20" front tires... no armor = me outta work for going on my 4th week starting monday. on TDI but haven't gotten a check yet, can't ride much atm. just all around a bunk deal. cut our ride short. took an ambulance ride to the ER...

funny thing is my kid is geared well lol. no neck brace but he does have a neck roll... I actually figured he'd be the one flipping I was just shrugging off more gear for me THAT MORNING saying I never flip my bike and that I'm good with just helmet gloves and boots... rockgaurdn body armor and possibly under armor would have me still riding that day I imagine :( woulda coulda shockda, my neck was sore like a basterd that day and my back and hip are still very sore. it was almost a month ago now and I'm still not gonna go bombing anything or any riding really for at LEAST a few weeks. til I get back to work, and even then, I'm not sure how hard I'm gonna ride til I feel it's not holding me back at all and can take a big hit in the area's that are still in pain today... I'm doing physical therapy and all :( I was lucky I didn't get killed or paralyzed... while laying there after the bike toppled over me on the rocks I was thinking I was paralyzed for a few minutes then managed to move my foot and figured I'd try to roll over. which I did and I was walking but BARELY and with lots of pain. I'm sure my 450 weights considerably more than a mini, but I'm also positive he would've felt more like me had he not had gear on... a roost gaurd may have helped but I know for a fact the rockgaurdn and under armor would've saved me a lot of pain and money. I'm out $3,000 just for the missed work the last 3 weeks. and I'm gonna miss more. plus ambulance/dr bills and crap... this was a VERY costly mistake that I WILL NOT make again! I honestly feel I shouldn't ride til I get under armor but will I'm sure :(

glad to see the little man was relatively unharmed and I hope to put a leatt on my fam sooner rather than later! as well as rockgaurdn and cycra under armor or however they're spelled...

Went to a local race this weekend and was surprised to see how many kids and teens still not wearing some form of neck brace.

I knew my son was going to race this past weekend and ordered the EVS for him from a popular online atv supplier on Wednesday - with two-day air shipping and a 20$ off coupon code that took 2 seconds to search for, I paid $147 for it.

I think its a great product and great fit for him and was a lot more at ease knowing he had that protection and hoping to God he wouldn''t use it!!

Thanks for sharing these pics and story - if/when our kids crash I think you want to be able to say you protected them as best you could!
