i was wondering if 450r nerfs would fit on my 400ex?

also, i have 400 dollars to spend with other money set aside for my nerfs.
(im not much of a mechanic, but have some handy skills, so any project "hard" or for an unexperienced guy would have to be done by dearler, so labor will prob be included)

i already have 450r shocks, and full skids. Wanting to do some performance mods. Can anybody give me some ideas?

Kyle

already have tires and pretty satisfied with my wheels. i've read up on the sparks key and it seems pretty easy to install, so thats a must. and i dont know much about the cams. should i have a local dealer install it?

and anybody know if the 450r nerfs will fit on 400ex?

putting in cams is easy but if u are not sure of u abilatly then u are better leaveing it to professionals

the down side hot cam cost like 189 and if u have a dealer do it then thats all ur money

ive been lookin around on ebay lately and can get one shipped to me for around 130-140. Why a stage 1, not a stage 2? i ride trails frequently, but also ride the road and fields just as much. lookin for power through and through. so what would be my best choice? and as graduation money keeps rollin in then surely i can throw some towards my quad. So the price range is just relatively speaking. ha

well if u do a lot of mountain and hill climbing then u want stage 1 b/c it gives u a lot of lowend power and torqe that gives u grip on the hills

but if u do easy trails and feilds then stage 2 has a lot of mid to top range power giving u more power and better aceleration and speed

think about what will work better and go for it

appreciate the info. any other performance mods i could acquire without spending a arm and a leg, other than a cam and sparks key?

450r carb and exhaust are pretty basic and will give you a lot more power per dollar.

yea exhaust is more looks and sound then power but worth it edventually and i have not done it but i hear 450 carb are rather difficult sounding to but in with costom fit adaptors and wires and throttle cables and **** like that

im sorry guys but i forgot to include, i have a full hmf exhaust and a k&n air filter. just thought i'd throw that in, and the 450r carb would be great if i knew what the heck i was doing, the guys around here would charge tons for labor on somethin like that. I've read up about taking the choke off and runnin a 42 pilot. not sure if thats smart, cause it gets cold up here in the hills of tennessee during the winter. Is it worth it?

I would say sparks key then is your best bet, its very simple to install.

I say get a cam and a Sparks key.

The cam is very easy, and you can do it at home with little to know mechanical know-how.

The sparks key is a bit if a pain, but is still pretty simple (even though the cam is simpler.)

A stage 1 Hotcam will cost $130. Vavle cover gasket maybe $10.

For $200 you could have the cam in and the sparks key in, and still have $200 left over.
