hey guys.. I've been looking to get some new subs for awhile now but i cant really decide what to get..i was really leaning toward going with audioque but i dont really have the cash for them at the moment..so when i was looking to day i found Sound Solutions audio..i read some reviews and watched some videos and they seemed to make a decent sub that is more in my price range..so i was wondering if anybody has any experience with them?

SSA has nothing but great reviews. The Dcon's surprize people, there only 300WRMS but they pound, they have 89db/1w/1m efficiency and sound great.

Ported or sealed?
How much space?
What's your budget?
Are you doing to do it up right with deadening and batts, alts?

If not, stay below 2kw. 2 ported Dcon 12's in 4.5 cubes on 600W is plenty for daily. The low end on 2 ported Icon 15's on 2k looks deadly in vids. You can't beat $250 for 2 great 12's.

honestly i haven't really thought far ahead yet lol..i know im not gonna do anything with batts or alts..its just gonna be for daily use..i might do some deadening in the trunk.

it will more than likely be in a ported box
it will be going in an '01 cavalier
and the buget is probably gonna be around 400-600 bucks

i've been really looking at the dcons..they look like they hit pretty hard from some of the vids i've seen

ive got some brand new 12inch subwoofer ported boxes. never had a sub mounted in them. im tryin to sale for $40+ shipping each.

in my opinion i would go with these subs for the price they are great and hifonics make awesome audio equipment.

You can get big sound with a proper setup. If you point everything into the cabin and seal off the trunk from the cabin you'll get audible gains, also with deadening. You don't need an extra battery or alt for 600WRMS in a Cavalier. You might not be able to fit 4.78+port cf3, I could barely fit 3 cubes in an old-body trunk. If you can't fit that, 2 ported 10's in 3 cubes, a 12" in 2.5, or a 15" in 3.5-4 cubes on 1-2k would be nutty. If you hate rattles don't use up all the space so you can stuff blankets in the trunk. Hopefully 2 Dcon 12's will fit, I'd like to see it. I had my mind set on a sealed wall of 8 Dcon 12's on 2400W but I don't want to spend $1000 on subs so I planned for 2 2010 fully loaded Fi SSD 18's in a 10 cube sealed wall on 1500W. Big subs in a sealed box, lots of cone area, and low power is ideal for big bass on a budget. I think sealed is ideal because if you blow them there goes your budget :ermm:.

If you want a nutty & cheap setup put a walled SSD 18 ($230+shipping) in as much space as you can give'r (up to 8cf3) on 800-1000W. Make a box and throw it on the back seat and strap it down, you could atleast take it out without much trouble for when you need the seat.

SSA makes great subs.

Were you talking about the Audioque SDCs? Also great subs. I had 2 HDC3 10"s and they were ridiculous.

AQ SDC 12"s are $140

SSA Dcon 12"s are $125

I would go with 2 AQ SDC 12"s on an AQ 1200D.

Ive had an AQ 3500 and AQ1200 amp and they are great amps.

For the Dcons I would go with a Sundown Audio 1000d. Those Dcons can take 500rms easy.

the ssa's with the sundown amp seems like it would be a pretty decent set up..but i dont have the 612 bucks that i would need to get them right now.

if i just bought the ssa's could i run them off of a sony 1200watt amp(i know sony is crap, but the whole system is free. and now you see why im looking for something new lol) until i had the rest of the cash needed to get the amp?

also, would the AQ 1200D be to much for them?

I wouldn't run the sony amp on them.

AQ1200D would be fine just set the gains right. Better to have more than enough power than two little power.

im not talking about running the sony for a long period of time..maybe just a week or two..is that still a bad idea?

and i'll probably go with the AQ over the Sundown than..200 more watts and its cheaper.

Sonys fine, it's just not quality and doesn't do anywhere near rated power so it's not worth buying. There isn't much of a difference from 600 to 1000W but 600w is much cheaper.

The Sundown SAZ-1000D would be great - Efficiency: 86% @ 4 ohm @ 100Hz. The efficiency is about 80% at 1 ohm and your electrical isn't big so they'd see to within 100W of their RMS anyways.

Test Frequency - 50 Hz
Test Load - 4x SA-12s all in parallel for 0.4375 DCR (1/2 nominal)
Test Electrical - 6x Stinger SPV-70 + 225-Amp Alternator (vehicle only at idle)
Amp gain set to 1/2 - Head Unit Sub Control 10/10 - Head Unit Volume 50/50
POWER : 1040 Watts
AMP VOLTAGE (measured) : 37.2 V
AMP CURRENT (calculated) : 27.95 A
ACTUAL IMPEDANCE (calculated) : 1.33 ohms
SUPPLY VOLTAGE : 13.15 V

What model sony amp is it? I dont even think Sony amps are 1 ohm stable.. So no I would not run the sony amp.

AQ makes great amps. My 2 have been great. Only reason I picked the AQ over the Sundown is price.

if you want to know the true wattage of an amp take the fuse size and multiply it by 10 and thats ur watts. if it has 2 40 amp fuses thats 800 watts. but the amp may say 2000 watts which is over rated like most amps now days. kicker/JL/hifonics/memphis/mtx are good amps and theres few more brands that dont over rate their watts. alpine is another. sony/pioneer/lighting audio/ or any lower class will say its way more than it really is. a 600 watt sony is really only 250 watts maybe 300 if that. if u match ur ohms and ur subs to operate at that ohm then u will get max power. if you run 2 12's at 1 ohm on a 2ohm stable amp you will fry it in a hour or less. if you run 2 12's at 1ohm on a 1ohm stable amp you can run it 24/7 and beat all you want. never pull more ohms from ur amp than its stability is. before i learned that i fried many many good amps.

alright..well it sound like im just going to have to wait for a while and order everything together when i have enough cash..unless someone knows of a cheaper amp that isn't totally crap

how would 2 AQ SDC 10's compare to 2 SSA DCon 12's?

Im pretty set on getting the AQ 1200d to power whatever it is i end up getting. I'm just wondering how these two different subs compare. The AQ's seem like they hit pretty hard for being 10's and there only like $10 more than the SSA's

I would go with the AQs. They have been known to take 800rms daily easy and sound great doing it.

I think it would be about even. 2 12"s will have more cone area but the AQs will make up with more power.
