deal or dud?

ok so i was looking at a 85 lt250r that only needs a chain and a new tire. the guy wants $500. is it a good idea to buy it? Also he has a 87 motor to go with it but i dont think its included for $500. And yes im from the trx250ex forum.

500 is not bad if the 87 motor is complete and included in the deal

thats not a bad deal just make sure it runs without any bad vibration, knocking or tapping noise. Check the cases to make sure theres no hairline cracks(signs of a bad balance shaft) also make sure to ride it and shift it through all the gears. the 85-86 had weak bottom ends, known for balance shaft and shift fork issues.

Also the 87 engine is completly different and wont fit in that quad without choping out a main part of the frame and having a split down tube welded in.
