If your using your stock swing arm, I would say go with something like the GT Thunder.

check out this web site i have the xc ling its great with a stock shock. if you are going to get a longtravel rear shock then you will have to get the linkage too.http://www.gtthunder.com/450R.htm

i raced all last season on my 04 with the gt thunder mx link.. with the stock swinger and stock shock.. loved the way it felt with the link!!

yea from what i hear the gt thunder link with stock rear suspension and swinger is the way to go. if you are looking for a reasonable way to get a better feel out of your bike this is the way to go.

You still set your ride hight with the link where you want it. The GTT link moves the bottom shock mount location a little bit forward. Which in turn gives you more usable shock travel. You will have to make the necessary height adjustment.
