If you have to ask, then you prolly shouldn't get one man. I'm not trying to be a jerk, it's just the truth.

I have a buddy that has 10-15 tats. The only one he regrets is the one that he got just because he wanted something.

completely agree. a tattoo is something you should be 110% ready for. i have two, and haven't regretted either one for even a minute. a tattoo is something you get for yourself, and nobody else.

i love artwork and i can appreciate tattoos

heres the main thing to consider

the artwork must flow with the body part its going on, dont get a square tat on a round body part...youll look like a prisoner

i see so many bad tats that are just on random areas and too small, too large, mishapen etc

i wanted tattoos ages 16-20 i was into mx and all that ...then i grew up and became more interested in business and what not...luckily i never got any tattoos because thats not me anymore...at 16-20 i never would of guess, older guys with tats told me not to do it, im glad i listened

thats why i would only ever consider getting ones that are very personal and meaningful to me.. and i would never get any that wouldn't be completely covered by a t shirt :p most people don't even know that i have any.

nothing personal , but i almost feel liek there should come a time in peoples lives when they should be content in themselves , to me, i just cant grasp needing to be reminded of something meaningful to me at 18 when im 40...there should be some degree of progression that should occur between 18 and 40 , to each his own, there is definetely some cool ink on peoples bodies, but i feel there comes a point you outgrow it

Figure out exactly what you want and where you want it. Look at the pic everyday for a year. After a year if you still want it and you haven't changed the pic then do it. Remember that crap like necks and hands are career limiting decisions.

I work in a big office for one of the best engineering firms in the world. Over half my body is done and wearing long sleeve shirts year around sucks. Going to a company party at the golf club sucks and company parties at the bosses pool sucks. But everyone I work with knows but never says anything which is cool. I don't regret any of them and still am getting work done but it does make things hard in the buisness world as well as upscale family events.

And one other thing. Make sure you are doing it for you. I find that I wear ling sleeves and long pants most of the time just so I don't get the looks, questions and comments.

P.S. Names are bad mojo unless it's your parents, kids or someone who
is dead

to me, it seems as though that comment means you should outgrow your personality and have no opinion at age 40. If something is so momentus that you would like to mark that on your body at 18, i would think it would still be at age 40. all my work is something of memories or things i want to never forget. to be honest its nice to have work that when someone does see it(most are able to be covered with casual clothing) they ask what they are about. it keeps those memories fresh in my head when i can tell them the story behind the tatoo(birth of my son, articles of my 2 deceased grandfathers) I can remember every good detail about all the situations for which i have tattoos and what they mean. Im pushing 30 now and I never want to outgrow the memories or reasons i have tattoos.
i agree if you are just getting flash to get something or getting your girlfriends name or dumb stuff like that, it is indeed ignorant, but if there is a purpose behind it, i feel like there is no need to stop expressing yourself. thats why we live in america and the foundation of our country so why not get tattoos if you want. hell my mom, aunts, and even grandma just got memorial tattoos....70,53,51,47 is there ages.

i think tattoos are cool. and i would love to be covered like a mulisha dude, haha.

but like said before, it makes jobs harder to get. and only certain people look cool with tats, i would'nt wanna be one of those poser ****** lookin dudes. lol

like the fat losers that wear tapout shirts. AHHH! that **** pisses me off! think there badass cuz they have a shirt that says "tapout":ermm:

They had a choice in what it was and what they were. They are the flowers and there names are in chinese. The dragon is a protector to my kids. The rest of the odds and ends were filler.

Ive wanted one for some time but keep coming back to no knowing exactly what I should get.

My cousin has like 5 very large ones. His lower arms are covered. One for each of his 3 kids, a joker on his shoulder, a sun on his inner forearm, one on his chest, etc. Thankfully hes a mason/landscaper and in his line of work its acceptable.

My brother has 2 of them, one says immortal in gothic lettering. All of his close friends got similar words in the same spot, I thought it was stupid and make fun of him telling him they put them together and form captain planet (ya gotta be there I guess). He also has a thing from final fantasy on the back of his shoulder, which I thought was incredibly stupid.

I actually cannot get a tatt for another reason. Way to hairy. I would have to shave the spots over and over lol.

I have a lot of tattoos... back, both pecs, upper arms, lower arms, stomach, leg, side and back of my neck, both delts.

And i have regretted quite a few!

I was a different person when i got most of them, so the lifestyle and meaning doesn't apply to my life now (on some).

Some i did myself when i was f***** up. I gave a rock to some crackhead who was real good at tats and let him smoke it then tat my back:( ...big mistake.

Get something your gonna want when your 30-40 and have to tell your son what it means and why you got it.

All and all i like most of them and when i have the $$$$ i will get some covered/redone and get more.

thanks guys haha, all kinds of different opinions here, i defintley did not expect this much feedback but thanks its awesome! lol. I like all the pictures of the tat's you guys put up, they're all really freakin' awesome.

And i'm a junior in college for ciminal justice, planning on being a state cop, so anything i get will defintley have to be very easy to keep hidden!

I've got a tribal with my zodiac sign in the middle of it ... between my shoulder blades.

My next is going to be either a cross with my late daughter's name ... or her footprints along with the date she passed away and her name.

Tribute tats have good meaning. I like both of your ideas. Maybe put them both together and make one tat. That would be a good tat

That's what I'm thinking. Also would like to add a few flowers to it .. daiseys since that's the flower for spina bifida.

maybe the cross, then name above it, date underneath, and footprints on one side, and the flowers on the other side. i think it would look good:cool:

I had it done over the period of 1 year at Guru Tattoo in San Diego by Nate Banuelos. It took about 18 hours at $150/hr.

you'd be surprised what you willing to pay for as you get older and actually have some money. I'm 39 and it was worth every penny.

Just remember, good tattoos aren't cheap and cheap tattoos aren't good.

Nice tattoo, I love tattoos and just got my second one last night. As long as its something meaningful to you and its in a spot that is covered by clothing, then go for it. I know that people would never know I had mine unless I told them and thats how it is with lots of folks. Im just a little bit of a sissy when it comes to needles and im not afraid to admit it, but if I can handle it anyone can!
