Any packing will be fine, but I repacked my Sparks with Sparks packing, and was pretty pleased with how the whole project went, and the quality of the material. But it wasn't cheap.:o

I am trying to do the same thing. Have a sparks repack but the front screws near the motor just spin. Cant get the canister apart. Any ideas? If nit im just gona cut the screw heads off and retap.

we haven't taken ours out yet. Ur idea sounds correct. Cut the head & vise grip the post & see what you are left with & go from there. Sorry to hear your riding this year is limited. Finally I'm back. The boy has been racing at Evansville PA as of late & has won all eight moto's - he'll be in B class next. My understanding is you have to start somewhere - u can't just said I'm riding in that class. let me know how u make out. Going to Breezewood anytime soon?

Those screws close to the mid pipe have nuts on the inside!!! I think they're a 7mm if I remember correctly. The ones in the end cap screw into the billet end piece.

Once you pull the end cap off you should be able to pull the core out with what's left of the packing (if any). Then you should have room to get your hand down inside with a wrench to hold the nuts.

Thanks that helps. I pulled in the core but it didn't want to come out. Still had alot of packing so I just put the end cap back on. Guess Ill have to try again.

Mine had no packing the last time I took it out and I had to wiggle it a bit to loosen it off the pipe. It slides on the mid pipe just like it slides on the end cap.
