Blew Up New Yfz450

Picked up 2008 YFZ450 about a month and a half ago as a leftover. Doing some trail riding Sunday, piece of deadwood came up,dislodged chain...this caused typical chain reaction of bundled up chain at front sprocket,caught and bent shift shaft,broke case. Just about 20 hours on the bike, pretty much ruined my weekend. Got about 30 more minutes worth of work and motor ready to be pulled. Gotta find somebody to replace case...I have no interest.

that blows man i hate to hear that, i threw a chain once but it wrapped up the the front sprocket and against the swingarm bearing dust cap. my case saver actually did its job and i got lucky. had to pull the swingarm off to get the chain un wedged. im not sure who could replace the case for you maybe a local shop?

Just hate the fact its almost brand new and has to be gutted. I don't think case saver would've worked either,it was violent.

Dang man that blows. I had the same thing happen to me about 2 months ago. Fortunately it didn't mess the cases up but it was hell trying to get the chain off the front sprocket....got lucky i guess

on my 07 last year i hit a small rock, not hard but i guess hard enough and i couldnt believe how hard it was to get the chain off the front sprocket, no case damage tho!

^ to add to that i also had a 15t sprocket on the front which wouldnt make it any easier

i had a 13T on mine

I guess I got a little bit lucky,kept *****ing and got Yamaha to cover the parts...I pay labor...better than nothing I guess. Should have it back Friday or Monday.
