I just bought a crap load of parts from a guy I know and need some help figuring out what some things are. I would appreciate any help I could get to filter out what to use and what to tuck away.

First up is a frame. I got 3 frames but one is junk and one is just an 89. There is one that I was told was a laeger narrow frame. It is a narrow frame but not sure if its really a laeger.

Questions I have for this are, is it really a laeger? If it is i know i have to use laeger a-arms but do i just get +1 to make up for the narrower frame? Also since the stock steering stem doesn't work is there a special laeger stem that's needed?

This is the swing arm that goes with it. Is this a special type of shock mount? it looks off set.

Next thing up is I got a CT cylinder but its not marked as to what size it is. I was told it was a 350cc but when i mic'ed it (73.2mm) it only comes out to 303cc. Did CT ever make 300cc motors? The cylinder wall is pretty thin so id say its on its last bore. There are markings on the bottom. 277-58 Ingram on the intake side and 1943 on the other.

Got this keihin but its really different then the ones i got now. I was told it was like a 40 something but the mic shows it as a 36mm. Is this an airstriker carb that iv seen people talk about? Number on carb is PWK S65AO LB

Last thing is I got this reed cage thats all aluminum. Its got dual stage reeds but it actually looks a little smaller in the inside. Anyone know what type this is and if its any better then stock?

Here is some pics of the other stuff that he gave me. I still have to go threw it but I know there is 2 case halves, a lot of tranny parts, several electrical parts, and a bunch of stuff im sure ill need at one point in time. I know there is at least one complete bike because he was racing it last year but he took it apart to start working on putting it on the laeger.

The carb is an air stryker. The frame is a narrow front, and if the linkage for the rear is off set to the right I would say its CR500 rear. Good frame in my opinion. As for the rest the other guys will be more help.

The reed cage is a Boyesen Rad valve

I don't think you have to use laeger a-arms on the frame.

That's funny, I was trying to buy that frame from that guy 2.5 years ago.

The Laeger frame is a good find, but the rest - I've seen stuff like that before and have a box of parts like that, most of it will be expensive to refurb or make good use out of.

You don't have to use Laeger a-arms, but it would be the best choice. It does, however need a Laeger narrow front stem or an aftermarket stem, modified for a narrow frame.

What are your plans with this stuff? I hope you got everything cheap.

thanks for the replies.

They guy said he tried putting his a-arms on it and it didnt fit but im going back to take a closer look at things and ill check again.

I dont think I got it off the guy you know. The guy I got it off of traded a set of flex bars for it last year. He makes crazy trades like that. The frame itself is mint other then the paint chipping from where its been thrown around in storage. The rear swing arm has been welded on by the pivot but I knew the guy who did it so I was already aware of it.

My planes are to build the laeger for XC and put the CT on it after i send it back to them for a new sleeve. (if i can figure out what size it was). The R i race now is pretty much stock except for a pipe and GTT shocks and the C class leaders are killing me. One guy finishes around 15th overall and I'm around mid 20s.

I'm pretty sure I got a good deal. I know most of the stuff I'll never use but I grabbed it anyways because with XC racing you never know when you might need something. I was looking at it like this....

Laeger frame and swingarm - $1000
complete transmission with all new bearings, crank, and rod - $300
CT jug and fresh 265 jug - $400
two ported stock jugs - $200
FMF pipe and silencer - $200

There are several boxes with new honda parts that i could add but at this point I'v already doubled my money if i wanted to sell the stuff.

Ok I understand now why he said the a-arms wouldnt work. His 86 has the large diameter mounting points on a-arms and they hit the outside of the frame before the bolt holes lines up. It looks like my 87 factory a-arms would bolt up fine since there smaller.

you are correct on the cr500 link. Im way jealous. I race XC and can sometimes barely keep it together. I wish i had all those spare parts

thanks I was hoping thats what it was.

definitely helps to have spare parts on hand though. I run into poeple at races all the time that have R parts and I always try and get there name and number just in case.

If it's a Laeger frame, it should have a plate riveted to the frame with a serial number on it starting with the letters "LAE..." It would be on the cross bar between the front shock mounts. I did not see that in the picture, so someone may have removed it (why?) or its a knock off from a company like Predator who is no longer in business. Check under the steering stem clamp and see if any numbers are stamped under there.

CT makes a 310 cylinder that starts at 72mm, but I cant remember whether it has 4 total bores or 4 overbores. Sorry! (72.5, 73, 73.5, 74?) so you are right there at the limit where you may need to have them re-sleeve it.

there's nothing under the stem clamp but there is two holes on the top of the cross bar where it looks like something could of been riveted there at one time.

mine was never riveted, it was just like two sided tape between the top shock mounts.

I bet it's a Laeger's, judging by those rivet holes...

Its a laeger chassis. I have a laeger and a predator. My laeger has the vin plate on top of the shock tower and the predator is on the front of the shock tower.

that is a ct 310. it doesnt measure out to a 310. u need i think the 4mil stroker crank to make it an actual 310. u should be able to bore it with those specs. i got mine getting bored right now and its larger then that

muddymess

yea I emailed CT and they emailed be back today saying it was 310 and that it goes from 72mm to 73.5mm.
