I'm looking to trade my trx250r for a four stroke quad to do some xc racing and trail riding and a guy called wanting to trade me a 2000 ds650 but I'm afraid it won't run with all my friends 450s. anyone know how they run in the woods and drag races? and about how much would one be worth. It's mostly stock. Thanks for the help

keep the 250R DS650 big and wide and too heavy for the woods

Yup keep the Honda.
The DS would outrun the 450's in the desert and the dunes, but not in the woods. It's waaaayyy too wide & heavy to be throwing around between trees

a ds650 is a mans bike.its like driving a 1 ton dually when your buddies are driving rangers and s10s.yes they are big but they are manageable in the tight woods. Its narrower than my 450r with a arms.:)

I think that you will be surprised at how the DS650 handles in the woods. You do sit higher, but if your friends 450's have after market a-arms, it will be the same width. It has a lot of low end, so slow speeds are no problem. It also rides so nice that it doesn't fatigue you as much as other atv's after a day of riding. I have had many atv's and by far I enjoy the 650 the most. The only time I wouldn't recommend it would be for outright MX racing all the time. It's just to heavy for that.

GET IT. YOU WILL LOVE IT. THE 2006 DS650 IS EVEN BETTER

I HAD A 2006 AND IT WAS GREAT IN TRAILS, MX TRACK, DESERT
