You will have a 1 1/2 year wait with Sparks per Scott. This is ridiculous.

out of 440's i'd reccomend SPARKS or CT. CT's 440 national kit puts your ex around 45 HP. That's impressive

Hmmm interesting....

I had looked at most of the major builders and gathered up all the info and prices then compared the wait times etc.

After a little digesting and laughing, and then investigation on what was needed to make this work right I became suspisous of the prices and long lead times etc.

After getting all the info together I had found that except for a few little tricks the only major part of the rebuild or kit that was a real benefit to using the builders was porting and polishing.

I know not everyone is going to agree with the above but except for having access to the proper flow bench and the knowledge to use it and the experience to know how this head likes to be ported etc most everything else can be performed by a "competant" machine shop (finding one isnt as easy as you would think but they are out there) then the only obstacle is finding out the little tricks and final set up and assembly.

Well after weighing all the above I decided to go with someone I could trust, afford work within my time limits and that narrowed it down to one. Yes I ended up doing it myself.

This isnt for everyone and many will deff benefit by having the entire job done professionally but I can only recomend that all the big names seem to do a very good job as well as some of the smaller shops currently making a name for themselves. So you have to consider that this truely isnt brain surgery and you will have the potential for a good result from many diff places.

So start calling around and see who impressess you and can work withing your needs or requirements and then make a decision.

I used Tom Miller Motorsports to build our 440 stroker. AWSOME job and power gains. But it does take some $$$$$$$

I agree with 440ex4me. Do it yourself and hand pick each piece to make your own kit.

Lots of good compaties make pitons, cams, sleeves, rods, valves, springs, ect...

Build your own. It will be fun and educational. Most importantly, you will feel very accomplished. Just buy a Healm manual and ask your local moto/atv shop who the compitent machine shops are.

p.s. Hi Lenny!
Like the new signature?

I have been looking at the pros and cons of a 440 and a 416 or 425 I really like the 440 kits but I really need reliabilty and a lot of people say its not very good well tell me what you think

Well I had my 440 for almost 2 yrs. And everytime I get on it I beat the crap out of it.

Only problem I ever have is the jetting needs to be changed in extreme warm or cold temperature. My buddies almost stock 400 never needs to be rejetted.

I also agree on doing it your yourself. Send it out to get the porting done, perferable the porting will be matched to whatever type of exhaust you have. And if you get any valve work done you probably want to have a pro do that too.

To make a 440 reliable it will cost lots of money. More than double of what it will cost to just build a simple 416. I was going with a 440 but after adding everything up it was going to cost like 1500. That includes heavy duty everything and getting the crank true and welded. If reliability is what your looking for with power go with a 416. You can get a piston, cam , and gaskett for a little over 350.

Tell ya what.... ship that motor to me. I'll hook ya up..:blah

We'll go JE 12:1 lightened piston, a big 'ole cam, some hardened rockers, and a nice strong cam chain, heck might as well replace them valves, and you know how we do!! Bigger Valves! .. top it off with a huge port. and there we go, ya better start working out so you can hold onto your new monster. .:devil :blah

All that for the tiny price of $1800, and Ill have to back at your doorstep in 2 weeks. Lmao.. I'm jk.. but heck if someone would want to pay me to hook em up I would!:blah

LMAO-:D , stfu... It will run!:macho ;)

.... and the motor gets a bonus adventure.

FST is awesome. That must be the same nickle plate they use to do to the old Tecate 4's. They didn't have any steel sleeve, just an aluminum head, had to do with cooling and the aluminum expanding and contracting with the heat. .. not sure what else it does.

haha......Id definatly go for the 440 over the 426 on that tho........if the 440 is built right it can be dangerous:D but thats the same with the 426 if the 426 is built good it could beat a 440 that wasent built good.....which there are plenty of those:blah
