250r starting

Ok i have a question, i had my 250 running other day and when i shut it off i tried to restart it but i had no luck at it. Its getting fuel, good compression, i dont see no spark. I tried a new plug still no luck. I was wondering if it could be in stator..cdi or what. also its an 88 model. is there a certain way to check cdi or stator

i had same problem and had to replace cdi. i was told only way to test cdi is to replace it and only way to test stator is when its running.

could also be an air leak. i had a leak in a base gasket once and it made it hard to start and run hot.
