I posted this in the steering and suspension section earlier, but I figured I would get a faster answer here.
I'm taking my 22x10x8 10 paddle extremes off and giving them to my dad, and I want to experiment with another size/paddle combo. It would be for Oregon coastal sand, in the summer. I loved my tires for climbing, but with my gearing, I couldnt launch very well for flat drags. They hooked up too much and bogged me down when I started in 2nd.
I was thinking like a 10 inch wheel might help, as the tire wouldn't grab as deep in the sand. My setup before practically left ruts, so maybe more flotation would help keep them floating instead of sinking.
I want to competitively drag race at Dunefest this year.

Oh and the most important part, its an xr650r motor, 680 kit, I havent picked out the stroker kit yet. 14/44 gearing.

i would call skat trak and tell they them what you need.

Those 22x10x8's are just about the best for float. I personally don't like them but they do stay on top of the sand better than just about any other combo. I prefer a 20" or 21" myself with 9 or 10 paddles. For flat drags I would stay with a 22" but maybe cut a paddle or two. You'd be amazed at the difference just one paddle can make.

I've heard of guys using 6 paddles for drag racing, so you might want to research that a little.

I think I'm going to try a 22x11x10 10 paddle extremes. Just to see how the difference in tire shape affect my traction. I have some other combo's already in my garage I might try as well.

I would go with a Hauler, they have a little more flex and usually a much better rollout.

My vote goes towards 8 paddle hauler. 10 paddles takes a lot of motor. I know you have the XR motor, what does that put out roughly?

With the mods I'm looking at, it should be around 70 hp, with 60+ ft/lbs. It would only be a 300 ft race on flat sand
