my quad is pretty so would any plug work(that fits the 400ex)? or would i have to read the plugs to find out?

Don't just run any plug. I am only running the D7EA because TC told me to. I would stick to stock unless you talk to a engine builder that says different....

dude, just go to yer local dealer and get a plug for yer model. if they dont have it, they can order, but im sure they know... i wouldnt stick with the walmart idea though, but my plug has only fouled once in two years, so u dont have to worry about it that much normally.

Splitfire. I have ran both and I rally could care less. But I can get Split fires like 5 mins down the road. Just easier.

Just don't walk into your Yamaha dealer and ask for a DPR8Z unless they sell Honda too becuase that plug is only a Honda plug. lol

I run the same plug in my Raptor and my 416EX. Splitfire Triple Platinum. TP416C. Both have been in there for about a year and still look new every time I check them.

David...Did Tom tell you why he choose D7EA...I want to get one!

Well I had called him before because I was having Jetting problems after I got my Pipe. I had a lot of problems and was going through plug after plug, so I switched to the Jetting he told me. Then I still had a few problems, so I called and told him that and he said my Jetting was fine to run that plug and ever since then I haven't had a single problem. I just went out and started the 400 today after a month of it sitting there, and she fired right up.....

i have always used DPR8Z's just cause it what the quad came with and they seem to last about 6 months each..

the splitfire tripple platinums sound awesome i might try them next.

anyone know if the Bosch +4s will fit in a 400?

Its kinda a waste of money to buy anything other than a NGK. either the dpr8z or 9z.

And its very rare that an auto parts store will have a 400ex plug in stock. Its ussually a special order. And i'm gonna say there is no chance in h@ll Walmarts gonna have one.:blah

The main reason I use the Splitfire's is because of their availability. The TP416C is a pretty common plug for about the same price (approx. $4) as an NGK from the dealer. I get them from the local NAPA autoparts.

Shoot, I bought champion plugs from Meijer around here & they work just fine & they're even less than the NGK's. Also an english plug wrench will fit on them as opposed to using that awful plug wrench that comes w/the 400...

whats the champion plug you use?

TheChknhwk

I'm not exactly sure, but most places that have champion plugs have a champion model guide book that should give you the plug# you need to get the right plug for your EX. Hope this helps. We have never had any probs w/the champion, and my dad runs one too on his stock EX.

THE DPR9Z IS A colder PLUG THEN THE DPR8Z

you would want to use the DPR8Z on a stock bike, and the DPR9Z on a bike that is wide open all the time, you had it reversed LRD

ChadEXer

The DPR8Z is the stock spark plug,,the DPR9Z is a colder plug and would be good for wide open riding, long races etc, and the DPR7Z like Warriorman refered to is a hotter plug! I run the DPR8Z in mine which TC told me to run the 8 or 9, either one would be fine for my bike. Also you guys might want to check it out but i can get the DPR8Z(stock plug) at my ABC Auto Parts store! They have a slightly different number than the stock Honda plug but its the very same plug, and its about half the price of the one from the Honda shop!!(Because NGK distrubutes the plug for Honda under a different part number) Just call ABC and tell them you want a plug for a 400EX its a DPR8Z, and they have a chart that matches the Honda number to the NGK number that ABC stocks!! my ABC store had 45 of them in stock last time I was there!! The only difference is it doesnt say Honda anywhere on the box, therefore its much cheaper!!

When Tom told me to run the D7EA I asked him if it would make the motor run any hotter, and he said it wouldn't. So this plug has been working great for me...

Well that plug has help mine a lot. I won't run without it now. I went from fouling plugs all the time, to just about never now.
