I have a 08 525s, airbox mod done to increase airflow and a HMF performance series slipon on the way. Which jet kit is better? JD or dynojet?

I like my JD kit.......but can not comment on the dynojet.

Add the HRC kit to your list. I just put one in my dads new bike and HOLY CRAP....it is wicked fast, sounds good, and runs nice....just got to finish the tune.

is the HRC best then?

Personally I don't see a difference. If you know what your doing with the Carbs then get any of them. If you don't then go with the JD and it gives you a very good starting point. The HRC comes with no instructions. The JD has pilot jet, 2 needles, a few main jets and a big and small o-ring (for the oring mod). I like my JD kit. It is a good kit but the most expensive.

Since my bike and my dads is fairly close with mods I got him the HRC kit and tuned it after knowing where a good start was. Then I added the o ring mod.

apparently I was way off with the HRC needle. It needed to be thinned out to as lean as I could get it. Now it runs like a monster. Great needle. Absolutely rips. Gives the JD some very tough competition.

I am considering getting a HRC needle for myself.

who sells the hrc kits? I can only find a kit for a trx450r. I would like to get one for my outlaw.

Hrc is Honda but both have FCR carbs and are interchangable

Exactly...both bikes have the Khienen(?) flatside 39 mm carb. so the Honda 450R needle is what you want. I believe it comes with a 162 main jet and a 50 leak jet. I don't have a leak jet in mine and it runs great with my HMF comp series pipe. and for a few cents you can get your own o-ring from Home depot and do the o ring mod.

I just noticed that you have a 500...that is a different carb. your carb is a mikuni i believe. so it wont work.

d'oh true story. You need to ditch that mikuni and work in a different carb if you really want to see some performance gains from the 500 motor.
